vCard QR Code: Put Your Contact Card in One Scan

A vCard QR code turns "let me type your number into my phone" into a single scan: the phone opens a pre-filled contact card with your name, phone, email, company and website, ready to save. It's the highest-value thing you can print on the back of a business card — and it should not cost a subscription.

How it works

The code encodes a standard vCard 3.0 text block directly in the pixels — the same format your phone's contacts app already imports. Both iOS and Android camera apps recognize it natively. No app, no server, no account for the person scanning.

Because everything is in the code itself, this is a static code: printed on 500 business cards, it will work in ten years regardless of what happens to any QR company — including us.

1. Open the HonestQR generator and pick the vCard type.
2. Fill in the fields you want to share — name, phone, email, company, job title, website. Skip the rest; less data means a cleaner, easier-to-scan code.
3. Style it to match your card — brand colors, rounded modules, a small logo.
4. Export SVG or PDF for the print shop (vector scales perfectly), PNG for email signatures.

vCard code vs. "digital business card" subscriptions

Several services sell QR business cards as a $5–15/month subscription. What you're really paying for is ahosted profile page behind a dynamic link — and if you stop paying, the code on your printed cards goes dark (see why printed QR codes stop working). A static vCard code has no such dependency. The trade-off is that you can't update it after printing: if your number changes, you reprint. For most people whose details change every few years, that's a far better deal than a subscription for life.

If you genuinely want an updatable card — say, contractors who change numbers often — an editable dynamic link with honest terms costs a flat $29/year here, not per-card pricing, and existing codes keep redirecting even if you cancel.

Print checklist

• Minimum 1.8 × 1.8 cm on a standard card; bigger if your vCard has many fields.
• Dark code on light background, with a white quiet zone around it.
• Scan a test print with two phones before ordering the full run.
