QR code scan analytics: know what got scanned, without creepy tracking
Every dynamic QR code on HonestQR comes with scan statistics. Print the same offer as a table tent, a window poster and a flyer — with one code each — and you can see which placement actually gets scanned, instead of guessing.
What you get for every code
- Totals that mean something: total scans, unique visitors and repeat scans, deduplicated so one person mashing their camera doesn't inflate the numbers.
- 30-day trend chart to spot campaign spikes and weekday patterns.
- Top cities and countries — city-level resolution, so a restaurant can tell locals from tourists.
- Device breakdown (mobile / desktop / tablet) and referer where available.
- CSV export of the raw aggregates for your own spreadsheets.
- Bot filtering: known crawler user-agents are redirected but not counted.
Here's the actual stats panel from the dashboard, showing a test code we scanned five times from different devices while writing this page:

Privacy: what we store, and what we refuse to
- No raw IP addresses. We store a truncated one-way hash of IP + browser, used only to deduplicate repeat scans within a short window. It cannot be reversed into an address.
- No tracking cookies, no fingerprinting scripts. The scanner hits a plain redirect — no JavaScript runs on their device.
- Coarse location only. City and country come from the network edge; we never ask for or store GPS coordinates.
- Bots excluded. Crawler traffic is redirected without being logged as a scan.
That's deliberate: you get the marketing answer ("did the poster work?") without building a surveillance profile of your customers.
How to start tracking scans
- Create a free account — 3 dynamic codes included, no credit card.
- Create a code for each placement you want to compare (tables, window, flyer…).
- Print them, then open Stats on any code in the dashboard — or export CSV.
Need more than 3 codes? Pro is a flat $29/year for unlimited codes — no per-scan fees, and existing codes keep redirecting even if you cancel.
FAQ
Can I track a static QR code? Not directly — static codes don't pass through a server. Use a dynamic code, or encode a URL with UTM parameters and read your own web analytics.
Is the tracking GDPR-friendly? We store no raw IPs and set no cookies on scanners; only aggregate city/country, device class and a non-reversible dedupe hash. Review with your own counsel, but there is no personal profile to hand over.
Is it free? Yes, for 3 dynamic codes with full analytics. Unlimited is $29/year flat.
